this wave is a rare left in a land of rights. I keep my eye on it when the conditions are right. this time it stayed glassy and uncrowded all morning. with all the Cold Water guys in town right now I relished my alone time and stayed out for almost four hours.

my neighborhood is bisected by all these alleyways. this is one is Shi Shi's favorite for some reason.

sunday brought the first rain of the season. i stayed inside and did chores all morning. in the afternoon it cleaned up and i went to check the surf.

not great waves, but a beautiful sunset and glassy conditions, worth putting on the wet suit for.
see you next week.

art like this

early morning surf check. i love the chilly weather. Climbing in the truck with my coffee for an early session, heater blasting and beanie on. Its not for everyone, and i love warm weather surfing too of course, but the crisp fall weather has a special place for me.

I found this at my neighborhood yard sale, behind the church. the guy said he wanted 500 dollars for it. I took these pictures and walked away. Later I saw him riding his mountain bike down the street with a garbage bag full of cans around his shoulder. Go figure.

i dont know what to say, i keep running into art like this. same artist as the banner. another neighborhood art show.

pumpkin picking at our favorite patch.
you can also check the surf from here.

this made me laugh. if you know what spot this is, you know its full of nothing but hippies, slugs, split tails and longboards, and I guess this poor tortured soul, too. jeez pick another spot, guy.
